Two weeks ago, we went to Robinson's Place mall in Adriatico, Mabini. We are on our way to reserve for 2 tickets to Kalibo, Aklan because the family will be off to Boracay for a vacation. Naturally, if you are in a mall, the first thing you would want is to know if there are any nearby or inside restaurants where you can eat a decent meal.

After the reservation of 2 tickets for my brother and a nephew. After going through an easy process of reservation despite full load. We went out. By the way, the trick we did in order to make it easier for us to go on the first of the line without harassing anyone or going against the rules of first come first serve and by number basis is to take with you an adult who is a senior citizen. Let him or her do the honors of talking to the customer service representative to see if there are any special priviliges for seniors with respect to falling in line. Poof! we are a priority now and so it made us a lot easier to take care of the reservation.

Going inside the mall, we went out for a different experience, all 4 of us, me, my wife, our only daughter TJ and my father who is a senior citized at 72 years old. We say lots of restaurants inside from french coffe shops offering package meals to italian restaurants, grill restaurants, Chinese restaurants and even TGI Friday. Finally, we arrived at eating in Super Bowl restaurant that caters to different chinese cuisines.

We enjoyed a whole bunch of lunch with beef brocolli, seafood soup, to the main course and later on, we all had mango sago for dessert. Spending only 1,900 bucks or so for a family of 4 is not bad. Meaning, each and everyone of us just ate with an amount of at least 500 bucks. Nice service rendered by our waitress, Nicole and for that, we will be back.

Andoks Restaurant in Caticlan Boracay

If you are in Kalibo or Boracay, you won't know what or where to eat. But the fact that we went to Boracay last May 5, 2011 surely had us all reeling for good a restaurant to eat to but we failed. Most restos out there near the Caticlan Jetty Port cater to local food but sad to say, they all failed my taste buds.

Also sad to say we had to go for Andoks fastfood. It was perhaps the only decent eating center for tourists both local Pinoys and foreigners there who take refuge from the heat of the sun and from hunger. We all had the same just before finally going to Boracay for a swim via the Jetty Port. wow! what an experience. The service in that outlet compared to Manila is by the way really very poor.

We've been there, ate there (as there is no decent choice) but the management and crew failed to satisfy at least my craving for good service. And to think, Andoks branches in Manila serve not just good food but also good service. You will be greeted by polite crews and personel.

Anyway, nothing new for me as the family dwels in Buruanga Aklan. Yes, we are locals of the province where you can find Boracay. Buruanga is just a 15-20 minute travel via bus or jeep or van to Boracay. The same reason why every year we go there for a vacation, we have been used to eating at Andoks. How I wish someone would try to put up some hot pot in the area.

This coming weekend, we will be eating in eat all you can restaurant in Kamayan. I heard from a friend that they will be featuring there the UFC 104 fight between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Shogun Rua so we decided to head up there for the weekend spend.

We've been watching Boys Over Flowers for a few weeks now and I bet that it will soon be ending. My daughter likes this Korean drama and she never fails to watch it right upon arriving from school. That is, even she already had the DVD copy of Boys Over Flowers and she finished watching all 25 episodes in it.

Anyway, just thought of posting it here because I also am beginning to like the turnaround of the story of this Koreanovela but somehow, there is something missing when the episodes get cut in a timely manner by the people who bought the rights to have it aired here in our country.

There are so many best restaurants in the Philippines today and in my visit almost everyday in the Chinatown area where the best Chinese foods are said to be tasted 24/7. I am really pleased to allow some of my readers here at the Best Manila Restaurants blog to know that you do not need to go to the hotels out there to get what your taste buds are craving for.

Chinatown is the home of the best Chinese food. One of which is what the title says - Estero Restaurant. This is actually some sort of an open restaurant where you can find a series of other resto within the resto that cooks Chinese food.

Here, you can choose which condiments and ingredients you want to be put in your food. Some are live fish and other seafoods and the vegies are also fresh. There are also frozen ones but to my experience eating there, the 3 of us only costs Php 500.00 bucks and we had a good time eating the food in 5 courses not including the delicious java rice.

To reach the Estero restaurant, you just have to get in the Chinatown area and ask a few folks inside the town. Estero restaurant is actually located in a bridge just before you get out of Chinatown leading to Binondo area.

Just two weeks ago, we ate at Kamayan Restaurant in Greenhills when my nephew was baptized at the Santuario De San Jose inside a Greenhills subdivision and the reception was held in Kamayan Restaurant. We all had a good time eating there and it is the first time that we experienced something different from a restaurant in Manila where the system of eating is based on the color of the plate that you will pick up in the large dining area.

Kamayan was one of the most accommodating and best manila restaurants in greenhills ever that we have been to. We ate so much of the food and I really like the plating system wherein when you eat on a plate colored light blue, you get to eat all of the available food from Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian, Indian, Filipino and more. When you take the yellow plate, it means that you can only either choose to eat in any of the different tables (only 1 table) where a variety of food is available for eat all you can.

The blue plate is the best because there is no limit there of what you want to eat as long as your tummy can accommodate the food. No limit in eating means in a restaurant that it is indeed one of the best restos out there that you can eat at. Another sweet thought we all enjoyed is the music there wherein they have an acoustic band playing in four for the people eating inside. There is an option that allows you to give a little tip for the singers to sing in front of you and your colleagues in the table with your requested song. The banjo is good as well as the voices of the singers, one female and 3 male with two of them playing the guitar while the other is playing the banjo.

For those of you looking to eat something more than what you think, I would suggest that you eat at Kamayan Restaurant, one of the best Manila restaurants there is. The food and the service is simply the best.

This coming Holyweek, we are going to visit Plaridel Quezon to unwind and take a short and enjoyable vacation from work. Since this is the only time for us working at the amusement to have a vacation, the technical group decided to go and visit a friend's house in Plaridel Quezon.

A Quest For The Best Manila Restaurants

What exactly is your definition of the best Manila restaurants? Is it better to be based in services rendered, amenities that they have or the people that populate the place. Well, if I were to be asked about this simple question I would say only one and they can not be found in the three aspects I mentioned above that most restaurant fanatics would go for. That is “comfort”.

What's In It With The Restaurant?

Would you believe that our of ten (10) people I have asked including myself on what specific traits did they like on their favorite restaurants in Manila, 4 answered me that it is the way they feel when they eat at the restaurant that makes them stay. Yes ! it is simply “comfort” that triggers them to go back on and on and on in a single restaurant in Manila that they like even if they have to wait the whole evening just for the seats to go vacant.

A Busy Restaurant by Night

I actually have a good example for this and it goes like when people work late at night and they are hungry even before reaching the house, one of the best Manila restaurants the they go to is a local and not so cozy restaurant somewhere in Bambang. The restaurant offers cuisines that are very familiar to the masses of evening workers and they vary from tapsilog, longsilog, dasilog, malingsilog, pares, tocilog, chicksilog and many other delicacies that are plainly cooked using cooking oil and is always served hot with egg, garlic fried rice and soup. It is true that most evening workers today would prefer to go for this local manila deli. They range from 27 Php up to 50 Php which is a true Manila restaurant price for the local midnight worker who is hungry with soup and fried rice.

How do you Find Your Restaurant?

For this reason I came in one day and tried to satisfy the curiosity in me with ordering and eating a deli that I have once favorited ar home. After all the commotions, sips and spoon and fork tangling, I found out that the restaurant is not that much of an ideal family dinner treat or lunch treat at all. The place is very small and crowded, especially in the late evening dinners and midnight snacks. What I found odd about the set up of that late evening Manila restaurant is that despite the overloaded capacity of the small place, they still manage to fill their reservation seats up to an extension which runs to the sidewalks of the main jeepney streets in Avenida and Bambang.

Burning Restaurant Intrigues

Now, the question is, what makes all those regular eaters in that evening Manila restaurant come back for more. It can’t be the service which as I saw many times is very poor and slow and inaccurate and would not even fall as a classy one. No, not even with the atmosphere of the place because setting aside my own personal preferences, I would not even touch the plates as I eat and the glass is glossy with oil as many regulars would even know and not miss out. So the amenities and environment is out of the picture. It couldn’t even be because of the types of people that delve in the place because I cannot find any class at all especially when the accommodation of the seat is concerned. Imagine being served with your dinner in the middle of the sidewalks? Who would take a second night out in the place if that is your definition of a dinner night out? No, not my type even but what makes them all come back for more? I can’t say that it’s because of the cheap price that is the culprit.

What's With The Midnight Restaurant, Then?

If it’s not the service, not the environment, not the price and not even the special amenities of that Manila restaurant, then what could it be? Could it be because people feel comfortable that way? To answer this question, I will have to have a part two on this one because it surely deserve a second taste of the cuisine in that Manila restaurant and I would sched a visit sometime next week and probably talk to the owner of the establishment for a short interview to settle things out with this one. “I deserve a treat” !!!
